- Bleeding Management: Immediately after surgery, bite down on the provided gauze pad to maintain pressure on the surgical area. Replace the gauze as needed until bleeding stops.
- Dizziness Precautions: Post-surgery dizziness is common. Sit up slowly and pause before standing to prevent falls.
- Activity Limitations: Avoid vigorous activities for 3-4 days and return to your normal routine as tolerated.
- Medication Guidance: Follow prescription instructions carefully. Avoid driving or operating machinery if taking strong pain medication.
- Antibiotic Use: If prescribed antibiotics, take them as directed to prevent infection.
- Swelling and Stiffness: Expect swelling in the first 24 hours. Use a cloth-covered cold compress for the first 36 hours, then switch to moist heat to reduce swelling.
- Dietary Restrictions: For 24-48 hours, avoid using straws, spitting, smoking, and consuming hot, spicy, or hard foods. Stick to liquids and soft foods.
- Oral Hygiene: Avoid rinsing or brushing on the day of surgery. Resume brushing gently the next day, and rinse with warm salt water three times a day for 7-10 days.
- Socket Care: Don't use the irrigating syringe for the first five days. Afterward, use it with warm salt water to clean the socket.
- Numbness Caution: Be mindful of temporary numbness in your lip, chin, or tongue, and take care while eating.
- Dry Socket Awareness: Watch for symptoms like throbbing pain and contact the office if you suspect a dry socket.
- Emergency Contact: Reach out to the office for severe pain, excessive bleeding, or swelling, and in serious cases, seek emergency medical attention.

Went to catch up with my dental care after years of neglect… Everyone there was kind and explain each step that was done in the initial exam and cleaning. There was a concern about being afraid of dental work and wanted to know what they could do to ease that concern.
